My friend Steve truly is a master at HDR - both in getting the shot and processing beautiful images. He graciously agreed to come give me some help this afternoon and I cannot begin to thank him enough!

I posted this barn this past January when had snow. I stopped by yesterday evening to get a HDR shot.

Tulip...

I found this macro in my archives. It is the remainder of a tulip with just a single petal hanging on.

Once again the colors are a little wonky because of my issue with blogger (even though I compensated with the saturation) but you get the idea. I love the smoky-purplish color of the inside; I am not sure what you call the prong-like structures. Anyone?

Roots in HDR

I love the pattern and textures of the exposed roots of this tree. I am surprised that the tree is still living considering the half of its roots are not covered. Nature is a pretty amazing!

Falls...

This is my first decent waterfall photo and I am pretty pleased with the result. There were a lot of people sitting on the rocks of these small falls so I had to crop and did not get the best angle, but the water turned out nicely.

It sure would be nice to be sitting by those falls today on a blanket with a good book..... ;)

Just Dandy...

After having been away for spring break this past week, it was sooo hard getting up early this morning. My little guy is counting down the days until summer vacation!

This is a dandelion bloom. I just love the little squiggly spirals in the middle. It puzzles me to no end why my yellow photos lose some of their vibrance and have a more green/blue hue after being downloaded into blogger. Does anyone have any ideas?

Blue Wagon....

I am so ~~overwhelmed~~ busy right now, and it is mostly because of work, but more honestly ~~Steve~~ HDR! In my tiny amount of free time I am reading, learning and when its NOT raining - out shooting. This obession shall pass....

This is my first single HDR image; normally there are three bracketed images. I found this pretty blue treasure in my daddy's barn. I have been in, and around this barn lots of time over the past years and cannot believe that I missed this sweet, blue wooden wagon. It was built by my daddy's uncle over 60 years ago. I just love it!

Thank you to all of you who have continued to visit and comment! I love you all, and will be stopping by this week - "pinky-promise." This is what my youngest son used to say when he meant that you had better keep a promise!

First HDR Image

I fell in love with HDR images after I first saw some of Steve's images featured in our local newspaper. Since that time he has become my mentor, and a great friend. He is such a kind and genuine person, not to mention incredibly talented! Be sure to check out his blog, you will fall in love with his images just as I did.

This is my very first HDR image. It is by no means perfect, but its a start!

Lovely in Yellow....

I am not sure what type of weed/wildflower this is, but I feel in love with the bright yellow blooms. After editing in Lightroom and PSE 8 and then loading onto the blog they do not appear as yellow and I have no idea why. Any ideas?

A Little Green.....

I found this in my archives from last summer and thought I would share it with you. I love the bright green lantana leaves in this photo - very fitting for today!

This is my first edit in Lightroom 3. I then pulled it over into Photoshop Elements 8 and sharpened it a tad more. Do you use Lightroom? I have a 30-day free trial, so we'll see how it goes.

Skeeter.....

This is my sister's horse Skeeter. He is very curious and follows me along the fence line when I am out walking and taking pictures at my daddy's.

I snapped this on a cloudy day and the sky was washed out. I added this texture and am pleased with the results. He's such a handsome fella!

My Daddy's Barn

This is the back view of the largest barn that is on my daddy's farm. We used to play in and around this barn the most when I was a child. This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago on a mostly cloudy day. The the sky is blown out, as well as the tin roof. This shot is SOOC other than a little bit of cropping.

I tried adding several textures, but was unable to get the look I was after. Finally, I decided to use Topaz Adjust after making some basic edits with PS Elements. My friend Steve introduced me to this wonderful product and I highly recommend it! You can try it free for 30 days, as well as all of their products. Topaz Adjust is a plugin that is compatible with PhotoShop, Lightroom and PS Elements (and more I am sure). It is reasonably priced and you can find the link on Steve's page.

This is after my edit with Topaz Adjust. There are different presets to choose from (this is Spicify), and Topaz allows you to have full control over the strength of various settings including hue/saturation, detail strength, sharpness, contrast, noise reduction and much more.   I am pleased that the sky is no longer washed out and details of the barn and tin roof are more visible.   What do you think?

I will share additional photos/views with in the coming weeks over at Barn Charm. I found a pretty neat surprise underneath this particular side of the shed and hope to be able to edit it as a single HDR image in the next few weeks.

Funny Photo - Macro Monday

I have been so ~~slack~~ busy the past few weeks that I have missed out on Macro Monday hosted by Lisa each Monday. It is always such a fun way for me to start the week. Look at this wildflower/weed that I found in my neighbor's yard (yep - Marvin and Lynda's again!) after the rain this morning.

We are not sure what the correct name for it is, but in this particular shot it looks like an alien or some sort of cartoon-ish character. It really cracks me up!

This second photo is my interpretation of it's various body parts. Gotta love the humor found in nature!

Flowering Plum Tree....

I took this macro shots this afternoon with my trusty Nikon Coolpix P90. It is not a DSLR, but it sure has a great macro mode. Here again I was taking over my neighbor's yard (I love you Marvin and Lynda!) across the street. Their plum tree is just starting to flower and is incredible! Plus they have bird feeders that I am now beginning to stalk. It is great to have such wonderful friends!

Inside of a tulip......

My wonderful husband gave me a bouquet of beautiful red tulips on Valentine's day. Recently I borrowed my friend Steve's (visit his blog here for some great HDR photos and much more!) zoom/macro lens and had some fun with it on a warm, sunny day a few weeks ago.

These shots were taken outside and the bright sun was shining directly into the center of the flower. It was not the best time of day to take shots, but definitely the warmest part of the day. I enjoyed being outside and experimenting with something new.

I have been super-swamped with work and I have been missing my blogging buddies! I will be catching up with everyone over the weekend!

An Old Gem....

This lovely barn has seen better days, but it is still standing and is full of charm and character! I especially love the blue pan that was probably used to hold feed or water for the animals that were once kept inside.

This picture was taken on a partly cloudy day. The sky and foreground are both washed out. Other than applying a texture - anything else I tried did not satisfy me. Feel free to shout out any editing tips!

I definitely prefer the aged/grungy look the texture gives this beautiful old place.

Snapshot and Scripture

I took this photo today while outside enjoying the beautiful, bright sunshine and warm weather that we are having. I really thought I was imaging this little creature as he was quite far up in our red maple tree, but sure enough he was there! I am not sure if its a butterfly or moth of some sort, but its good to see them out and about. Spring surely cannot be too far away here in our corner of the South!

Happy Friday everyone! It has been a crazy week, and I am looking forward to enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend. I am going to visit my daddy and am very excited about that. I love going home!

Violas have such cheery little faces and bright colors. These were on my neighbor's front porch. They always have such pretty flowers year round, and lucky for me they don't mind me using their yard as my photography playground. Thanks Marvin and Lynda!

Frosted and Textured Basil...

I took this photo back during our snow/ice event. My poor basil plant is past dead, but it made for an interesting subject.

I am experimenting with layers and masks. AUGH.... Ashley has a great tutorial this week and she inspires me to keep trying! After playing around with the high pass filter and adding Pioneer Woman's define and sharpen action, I decided to add a Kim Klassen texture to finish it off.

Bird on a Wire

I really need a larger zoom lens, but this shot will have to do. This pretty little bird was hanging out in the middle of a field on Sunday. It was a beautiful blue-sky day without a cloud in sight and the temps were in the low 60s.

He/she seemed to be looking out over the field searching for something to eat. Suprisingly, the forecast is for snow late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning. 1 inch of snow is nothing to my other blogging friends, but it is a big deal here in the South! However, I really am ready for warmer weather and more sun-filled days.

An Old Field - Scripture and a Shapsot

We left town yesterday to celebrate my huband's birthday and spent the night with one of my most favorite people on earth - my beloved SIL Karen. I am so blessed to have her in my life; she is truly one of my very best friends and I love her dearly!!

This particular picture was taken at a good family friend's farm. It is so peaceful there and I think this scripture fits the pic perfectly. Over the years when feeling down and out, I have always clung to this particular scripture and have reminded myself over and over - just have faith the size of a mustard seed.

An Old Place....

This building sits in back of my daughter's and son-in-law's house. I love old places like this - I bet they have wonderful stories to tell!

I normally use MCP Actions texture application (its free) and I like it a lot. However,Kim Klassen is offering a free Texture in 10 course and I highly recommend it!! I learned a lot and I really enjoy using her textures. Also, be sure to sign up for her weekly texture freebies.

An Old Pen...

While this does not necessarily meet the definition of a barn, it was used to house chickens and other small farm animals at one time.

Although it has seen better days, I love the character of this patched up little pen.   Looks like a great spot for hide and seek!

Scripture and a Snapshot..

I took this photo over Thanksgiving when we visited my SIL. They have a beautiful farm and a pond that sits at the edge of a field. It is so peaceful, one could sit there for hours.

I immediately knew what I wanted to do with this photo, and I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Truly, we need to more like Christ and be fishers of men.

Blue Morning Glory

Even though here in the South we are not getting hammered with snow, we have had a much colder winter than usual and a lot of the days have been overcast and gloomy. Today is another of those days and its pretty windy.

I found this sweet Morning Glory while going through some old pics and thought I would share it with you.

This was taken last spring. I am counting down the days; I miss the sunshine, pretty flowers and walking barefoot in the grass.

Bloggers Block and a Barn

I have had what I will call "bloggers block" for a few days now. My "get up and go" has gone and I can't seem to find it. Hopefully, I will be back to myself here soon!

This barn and tractor belonged to my daddy's best friend's father. I had a wonderful time a few weeks back taking pictures, and remembering lots of good times spent playing on that farm as a child. I have several more barns that I will be sharing and lots of pictures of great old stuff!

Before and After - Frozen Drop

This is my SOOC shot on Monday.

And this is my edited version.

I cropped it a little, ran Pioneer Woman's Sharpen and Define action x 2, played with the highlights and contrast, and then ran it through Topaz Adjust and to lower the noise. I was still not happy so I added a layer and chose Pin Light. I really have no clue what I am doing with layers yet!

Barn Charm and Midweek Blues

Tuesday is almost gone and Wednesday is almost here, so I am combining this post for Barn Charm and Midweek Blues.

I used Charlene McCoy's Vintage texture (her textures are great!!) and ran Pioneer Woman's Boost and Warmer actions. The light was fading fast and the shots I took of the front did not turn out well. I plan on going back when the weather cooperates to get more shots.

SOOC and Macro Monday

This frozen drop is straight out of the camera and yep, it was taken during our big snow and ice event. I took it during the morning before it melted, so hopefully that counts for this week's theme "Good Morning."

There is a little reflection of some red berries in it at the very bottom. Hopefully, when I edit it they will be more visible. So, be sure to check back on Thursday for the edited version.

Strength....

Frozen Parsley....

I'm teaming up with Ashley for Shoot and Edit. I missed the SOOC link up on Monday, but have displayed it below.

SOOC. This flower pot sits on my front porch but the wind blew the snow and ice in on top of it.

My edit: Opened in PS Elements 8. Cropped. Under "Enhance" I lightened the shadows at 27%, darkened highlights at 3% and boosted the midtone contrast to 33%. I then adjusted the brightness up to 15 and increased contrast to 26. I used Pioneer Woman's Define and Sharpen action x 2 and then used Florabella Rain action. I adjusted the layers to suit my taste and then ran it through Topaz Adjust (GREAT product!) to decrease the noise. I am not sure this is my favorite edit for this pic - but I am learning.

Southern Snow/Ice

These are just a few random pics from our snow/ice event. We had at least 2 to 3 inches of snow, but then the sleet and freezing rain came through coating everything with an icy finish.

My empty tricycle planter was frozen in place.

The back yard was a sheet of ice. My poor dog Rascal did not like it one bit - poor thing slid around just trying to find the "right" spot to do his business.

My garden girl had a basket full of puppies covered in ice.

And this is my little guy's take on snowboarding - he did it with his Yo-Baby plastic skateboard! He and his buddy had fun playing ice hockey in the front yard.

Horse Barn and Midweek Blues

I wish I had the history behind this barn. I know that it is very old and used to be owned by the City, but is now privately owned. It sits adjacent to a race track that is used for sulky races.

I have never seen a brick horse barn before and was pretty excited to find this one close to home. The snow/ice on the ground is a bonus! I also added Kim Klassen's Greyday texture.

We ended up with 2 inches of snow and had a coating of sleet on top of that followed by freezing drizzle. Its pretty to look out at - but not a lot of fun to get out in for me. Southerner's are not used to this kind of weather and driving quickly becomes hazardous. I had stocked up beforehand and was able to stay put. Hopefully I am over the worst of the crud - good riddance!

Frozen.....Macro Monday

I'm sorry to overdose you on icy/snow shots, but that is the big story here right now. This particular shot was taken during our last snow event the day after Christmas. This little branch and drop was frozen after the snow had started melting, but had refrozen during the night.

We are forecast to get 1 inch of snow overnight (I'm hoping for more!) but the big story is the ice that is expected tomorrow afternoon. Grrrrr...... Ice is never good, no matter where you live.

The "crud" has also reared its ugly head again and I have been sick and have fallen behind on keeping up with everyone. I hope to be catching up with all of you tomorrow, provided we have power.

Stuck Like Glue....Macro Friday

These two red berries look like they are stuck together with a drop of Super Glue. The snow had melted the day before, but these two had refrozen together overnight. There is talk of more "winter precipitation" this weekend, but I'm not sure if it will reach down this far in SC.

Blue Bird - Midweek Blues

This pretty blue bird was sitting in a window display inside of Tiffany's in New York City. My son wanted to get his girlfriend something special for Christmas. I wish I had snapped more pics while we were in the store, but my son gave me that "please don't embarass me by taking tons of pictures" look.

The jewelry was absolutely beautiful, but it was very apparent that we were on the ~~very expensive~~ wrong floor of the 5 story building. He did find a very pretty silver necklace with an oval-shaped pendant. She was absolutely thrilled with it, and who wouldn't be with something from Tiffany's?

Old Storage Building

This little building has seen better days, but is still in pretty good shape overall.

I am still having issues with blogger and its driving me crazy! For example, when I choose the picture to post - it takes to me to a new screen that I have not seen before and instead of inserting the picture like it used to while in draft mode, it now places a code of some sort. The photo appears after I choose "publish post." Any ideas?

Frozen Reflection....

After the snow started melting last week, I found this little berry that was partially encased in ice with a frozen drop attached to it. It turned out to be a sweet little macro shot!

Believe.....

When we were in NY shopping at Macy's - these pretty illuminated signs were found throughout the store.

BELIEVE - what a wonderful word!   I decided that would be MY word for 2011.  I need to start believing in myself again.   Somewhere along the way I lost it - but am determined to find it!

Saint Patrick's Cathedral

St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City is incredibly beautiful and stands majestically amongst the tall skyscrapers. It was hard to get a decent shot of the exterior due to renovations currently underway.

This one was taken at night. The streets were packed with tourists and last minute shoppers, as well as those rushing in to attend mass.

The ceilings are incredibly tall and have the same architectural style as St. Thomas church posted yesterday.

We were only allowed to take photos from the side aisles as mass was about to begin. These pictures do not do it justice - it is truly a beautiful sight!

The manger scene was incredible. Baby Jesus was not in the manger. I am assuming he would have been placed there on Christmas Eve.

Candle stations were placed throughout the side halls and entrances. We lit a candle in memory of several loved ones. My husband's two older aunts were devout catholics and would have been thrilled to have been able to visit this cathedral. We miss them very much.

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve - what are your plans? We will be sitting by the fire enjoying a glass of wine, good food and later shooting fireworks with our neighbors.

St. Thomas Church and Midweek Blues

While visiting New York City last week, we toured St. Thomas Church. I am a little bummed that the pics did not come out exactly as I wanted, but I am on a learning curve with the new camera (and photography).

The architecture is simply amazing. The church was built in 1913.

The interior is breathtaking and the stonework blew me away! How did they do it back then?

The blue stained glass windows were my favorite! It was so peaceful inside this beautiful church - relatively empty compared to St. Patrick's cathedral, which I will share with you tomorrow.

Same Barn - Different View

I shared this barn some time back, but wanted to show you how it looked in the snow and from the other side. This barn is located adjacent to one of our local city parks. I wanted to get some shots of the snow, but by that time it was mostly melted. However, as I was leaving the snow started back up and we got another 1/4 inch. By that time it was getting dark and windy - time to sit by the fire!

Ice Crown

I am soooo happy that we got snow today!! It was an inch or less that accumulated, but nonetheless very exciting for us Southern folks that do not get to see it very often. My youngest is still outside playing with his buddy and does not want to give it up - even though he is probably close to becoming a popsicle right about now.

This dried flower looked like it was wearing an ice crown. I hope to get out in the morning and find some more icy macro shots.

Merry Christmas!

Can you guess where I have been this week? New York City!!

The sites were amazing and the city was very festive.

The Cartier store was especially beautifully decorated!

And the Christmas Spectacular was really spectacular!

The tree at Rockefeller Center was breathtaking, but the crowds were a little overwhelming.

I have tons of catching up to do and the cookies for Santa have to be baked. I wish you and your family a very BLESSED holiday!

Virginia Barn

Macro Monday - Reach...

This new flower seems to be reaching towards the camera. The new petals look like long, slim fingers to me!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was awesome since my hubby surprised me with my Christmas gift early! I finally am the owner of a DSLR camera! After much debate and talking with many different camera owners, I decided on the Canon EOS 60D. I am very excited!!

And, to top off a great weekend we got snow flurries last night. They were tiny in size and did not last long, but hey - snow is snow here in the South!

Macro Friday - Mustang

The song "Mustang Sally" is running through my head right about now. It is a classic by Wilson Pickett that many Southern folks like to shag (its a dance) to.

I snapped this over Thanksgiving. My brother-in-law is a Ford sports car collector and has a few classics. When the weather warms a bit again we are going to do a shoot of his cars and I cannot wait to share them with you!

Midweek Blues - Blue Tarp

This house is owned by my brother-in-law and is near 100 years old. It has electricity but no indoor plumbing. It is rented to a gentleman who lives there by himself. The main source of heat is the fireplace, but hopefully he has a second heat source as well.

The blue tarp on the porch caught my eye. It looks like the wood is rotten in spots. I also love the old bench car seat that serves as a place to sit and watch the world go by.

Back of the Barn

Fall Foliage

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago at a local park. And yes, I am still playing with textures. I am going to start noting which particular texture I use so that I can share it with you.

I highly recommend the free download for applying textures at MCP Actions. It has made a huge difference for me and it is compatible with PhotoShop Elements.

Blue Ford Tractor..

This is one of several tractors that my brother-in-law has. He is a farmer and works so hard. I never really knew how hard these men and women worked and I am very appreciative of their efforts.

An Old Shelter...

I found this old lean-to/shelter next to a cow pasture while visitng my sister-in-law on Thanksgiving. I walked the fields and really enjoyed the wide open spaces and all of the neat "old" stuff that was nearby.

It sat under a tree and looked like it had not been used in some time. I love the pond in the background and the remaining foliage on the trees. I added a texture and love the way it turned out!

Its About That Time...

I hope all of my blogging friends here in the U.S. had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! We sure did and I am so very thankful for my family and friends, and all that God has blessed us with. Now that we have gotten through Thanksgiving holiday - it is about that time....

Blue Canoes...

Stables...

These stables have been such a big part of my life. Growing up we played in them; hide and seek, made them our clubhouses, and whatever else tickled our fancy while the horses or donkey were out. I can remember my grandfather milking the cow in those stables and drinking the warm milk from a cup fresh out of the stainless steel bucket when he brought it in the house. There is nothing better than warm milk on a cold morning in a house heated only by a wood stove!

These stables are still standing and are in good shape. My daddy is unsure of their age, but he is in his mid 60s and they have been there since he was a child.

I added a texture just for kicks. I like "old" things better with added texture. That is, unless you are shooting HDR and my camera is not equipped for that. Hopefully Santa will bring me a new one! For a great HDR shot of these stables, please check out my friend and mentor Steve's blog. He has a wide-angled lens and got the barns in the shot too. His photos are PHENOMENAL! **SIGH** He and his wife are such great people and I am so lucky to have them in my life!

Karen over at What Karen Sees is trying something new and I agreed to post a pic of my fall mantle on Friday, but have been slack this weekend and am just getting it posted.

As we were leaving a local park this past weekend I picked up this large leaf. The afternoon sun was quite bright so I held it up and snapped the pic just for fun.

I love the color and texure, and the way the sun is peaking through the small hole. There is such beauty in nature - even a leaf that is just lying on the ground.

Burst of Sunlight....

My friend and mentor Steve taught me this technique. Set your f stop to 22 and focus on the sun through a tree branch or other object. The result is a really neat burst of sunlight! Please check out his blog and flickr page - you will not be disappointed!

Pretty cool, huh? The blue sky was really vivid, so I am using this as my Midweek Blues submission.

Veterans Day

We visited Washington, DC this past summer and Arlington Cemetary was a "must visit" for us. I cannot describe my feelings as I looked out over the sea of headstones.

I am so thankful to all who have served, and continue to serve - those who put their lives on the line EVERY day for us.

And, so many brave men and women have paid the ultimate price. Let us never forget that.

God bless the USA and all of our brave men and women who serve this great Country! Thank you!

Dragonfly in Color

Textured Barn

This barn stands tucked back amongst some trees and has overgrown bushes in front of it. It overlooks a beautiful cotton field in full bloom.

This barn belongs to my son-in-law's family and part of it is still in use. I plan to go back and take some more pictures of the barn and cotton field. Hopefully some of the overgrown stuff will be gone if my sweet son-in-law will take it down for me!

Reflection in a Raindrop...

I was so focused on catching the "raindrop" from the daisy petal that I did not notice the "reflection" in the raindrop until I pulled it up on my computer. Funny how life can be that way - we are so focused on certain aspects of life that we miss the beautiful details.

This is a great time of year for reflection - looking at our lives and being thankful for all that we have been given and remembering those who are less fortunate; as well as assessing where "we" are and where "we" want to be and what it will take to get there!

Wings...

Thank you so very much for being so supportive of my rant/breakdown last night. Honestly ya'll - a gal can only take so much! I have only been blogging for a few months and now I really get it - we are friends and a support system for one another. I am so thankful for all of you!

I snapped this photo back in the summer. This dragonfly was particularly accommodating - probably because he/she could not see me!

I converted it to black and white and applied Kim Klassen's Celine texture. It is very fitting for this post - because you all have touched me and help provide the "wind beneath my wings!" I am lucky and blessed to have such wonderful blog friends, as well as the best family ever!

Tough...

This has been a tough past weekend and week thus far.   I apologize for not keeping up like I try to with each of you, but dadgummit, life is tough at times.  I have no photographs to depict exactly what I am feeling. It stinks. Really folks, it does.

To bring you up to speed - let me begin by telling you that one of my oldest and dearest friend's lost her daddy last week. "Pa" was such a wonderful and caring man and father; he adopted all of us as his own.  My daughter and I cooked and fed them after the funeral this past Saturday.   You betcha - it is a Southern thing to take care of others during this hard time and we prepare lots of comfort food (and drinks!) when they probably don't feel like one or the other; but their company sure does appreciate it!  Of course it goes without saying that they do too.

Last night I learned that "Aunt Audrey," a wonderful, caring woman that took care of so many of us small town children, lost of her battle with breast cancer.   Everyone in our small town knew her (and she was seriously affectionally called "Aunt Audrey" by many). If you were blessed to have been cared by her (as my brother and I were), then you certainly wanted her to care for your own children; and she did for many of us.   She was so loved - I cannot even begin to describe the wonderful memories I have of her and what great care and love she bestowed upon all us younguns!   Both of my parents worked in a local small-town factory as did many others, and we are a family of sorts.   I do look forward to seeing them at the visitation.   It is sad that we see so many who are important to us only at funerals or weddings!

This evening I am on pins and needles and praying like crazy for one of my best friend's daughter, Amber. She is undergoing emergency surgery at this very time for a ruptured appendix. She is 18 weeks pregnant and carrying a precious baby boy.   Please say a prayer for them.   I do not mean to offend those of a different faith; but my faith is clear and I believe that Jesus Christ has the power to heal us and change the outcome of our circumstances.   The saddest thing is that Amber miscarried this past June at 11 weeks while visiting her for her sister's wedding.   I am beyond sad and worried

Old Silos

These old silos stand proudly against the side of a dirt road. They appear to not have been used for quite some time. Their tops are rusted and one of the silos has a large hole in the side of it.

Creepy...

My son found this creepy critter hanging out on the side of our garage. He was fine with mom getting close and taking pics, but he decided to stay several feet back. I guess the size of this one intimidated him a bit.

Check out those beady eyes! It was watching me pretty closely.

Here is another view. It really was a beautiful spider, but I am glad it went away. Hopefully, far away and is not living inside of the garage! YIKES!

Another Old Building...

This is another old building from my great-Uncle Tillman's place. I am not sure what it was used for back in the old days, possibly a sort of curing house? In later years it was probably used more as a storage building, but it is really old.

The steps are old concrete cinderblocks. The doors are made from heart of pine wood.

Macro Monday - Wooly Bugger

My sweet son came in this afternoon and told me to grab the camera - he had found a really hairy catepillar. He also had found a really big spider earlier in the day, but more on that later in the week.

This catepillar was inside of our garage on a board and I wanted more contrast, so I grabbed a black shirt and moved him onto it (with a stick of course!).

I have no idea what this is - just photos. I was scared to touch it for fear of being stung, but it really seemed to be a gentle creature.

And this face - you've gotta love it for this time of year since it is almost Halloween!

We have had a gorgeous full moon and I was able to catch this shot SOOC on a tripod and cropped.

It reminds me of a melon with the bottom half resembling where a stem might have been removed. Click herefor more great SOOC shots.

This Old House...

This old farm house belonged to my great-aunt and great-uncle, whose barn I featured on Tuesday. This house is currently being remodeled by its new owners (their granddaughter and husband) and I am so happy I got to take a couple of pics before it is made to look new, but never the same as I will remember it.

There were many great times had in this old house with my cousins, as well as many evenings spent listening to the adults talk while sitting on this porch. It looks so lonely now.

I added a texture to this one. What do you think?

Old Blue - Revisited

"Old Blue" is back. I went home this past weekend and daddy brought him out from underneath the shed. This is a 1971 F100 Ford pickup truck.

He has seen better days, but like the Energizer Bunny and with good maintenance, he keeps on going! I did not texture this photo and the lighting was better - so here you have the true Old Blue.
