I wish I had the history behind this barn. I know that it is very old and used to be owned by the City, but is now privately owned. It sits adjacent to a race track that is used for sulky races.
I have never seen a brick horse barn before and was pretty excited to find this one close to home. The snow/ice on the ground is a bonus! I also added Kim Klassen's Greyday texture.
We ended up with 2 inches of snow and had a coating of sleet on top of that followed by freezing drizzle. Its pretty to look out at - but not a lot of fun to get out in for me. Southerner's are not used to this kind of weather and driving quickly becomes hazardous. I had stocked up beforehand and was able to stay put. Hopefully I am over the worst of the crud - good riddance!
Be sure to visit Tricia for more great barns and check out Midweek Blues too!

Wow! That is one amazing barn. Almost cries to be turned into an up-scale restaurant.
ReplyDeletewhat a great photo of a greaT barn.. Love them and all of your shots!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a horse barn! Great use of texture and I love the reflection in the ice. Good luck with the weather, I hope it melts for you soon.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo. Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThat's just way to pretty to be a horse barn. It's a really wonderful photo with the snow.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a brick barn either, seems too expensive, but hey, that's cool! =)
ReplyDeleteWow---that is one fancy-dancy barn... That is nicer than some people's homes.... ha... I don't think I have ever seen quite a snazzy barn... Love it... Thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteWe are still getting snow up here... Don't think it will ever end.
Hugs,

Wonderful photo, and I really like the texture you used.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! I've not ever seen a brick barn either; nor have I seen one with a blue roof! Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteBe happy with your 2 inches of snow. We are in for a foot or more between tonight and tomorrow :-(
Winter has settled in up here as well- I feel like I am back in Buffalo- Great shot!!
ReplyDeleteThis is quite a barn! Very stately.
ReplyDeleteWe were 50 miles south of the storm. No sleet or snow but temps down in the teens tonight!
Cool barn! I don't recall ever seeing one out of brick either.
ReplyDeleteVery fancy! Looks like it could have been built by a rich horse breeder. Lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteThat's some fancy barn! it's more like a penthouse barn. I'm getting so fed up with snow too.

Looks like a very nice place for horses to stay!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful structure! I've not been out of this house since Sunday and man, it's getting old. The 8" we got has melted into sheets of ice on everything and it won't get above freezing until the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIts a might big barn, its gorgeous. It would make a great indoor ice skating rink.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Pam

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful shot.. Love the texture you added..
ReplyDeleteYou have SO many wonderful barns in your area!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better; good to know you were able to stay warm! This is a great barn; looks a lot like one where I grew up, near a racetrack, but the one I knew wasn't make of bricks.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a big barn. Nice picture.
ReplyDeleteThe barn is divine and the texture adds an incredble feel to the photo.. Wonderful image. Carla
ReplyDeleteAn interesting barn and very nice processing. I love Kin's textures too.
ReplyDeleteHi SS, I like your barn find. I'm thinking there used to be a dairy farm here. Or the (horse) trolley company owned it.
ReplyDeleteWe had a little ice in our driveway this morning as I had the faucets dripping all last night. :)
..
Now that is a barn Jack would love!
ReplyDeleteStay warm.
Pam
I really like the use of texture here. I have never seen a horse barn made of brick either, so unusual!
ReplyDeleteIn my idea of American barns this is what I imagine they all look like! I love this, can imagine men with stetson wandering around it.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did on the picture...awesome shot! very nice....thanks for dropping by!
ReplyDeleteWow. Those horses live in a fancier structure than many people do. Great processing with this shot.
