Horse Barn and Midweek Blues

I wish I had the history behind this barn.  I know that it is very old and used to be owned by the City, but is now privately owned.   It sits adjacent to a race track that is used for sulky races.

I have never seen a brick horse barn before and was pretty excited to find this one close to home.  The snow/ice on the ground is a bonus!  I also added Kim Klassen's Greyday texture.

We ended up with 2 inches of snow and had a coating of sleet on top of that followed by freezing drizzle.  Its pretty to look out at - but not a lot of fun to get out in for me.   Southerner's are not used to this kind of weather and driving quickly becomes hazardous.   I had stocked up beforehand and was able to stay put.  Hopefully I am over the worst of the crud - good riddance!

Be sure to visit Tricia for more great barns and check out Midweek Blues too!

xoxo,
SouthernSass

We were 50 miles south of the storm. No sleet or snow but temps down in the teens tonight!

  17. What a beautiful structure! I've not been out of this house since Sunday and man, it's getting old. The 8" we got has melted into sheets of ice on everything and it won't get above freezing until the weekend.

  22. I hope you are feeling better; good to know you were able to stay warm! This is a great barn; looks a lot like one where I grew up, near a racetrack, but the one I knew wasn't make of bricks.

  26. Hi SS, I like your barn find. I'm thinking there used to be a dairy farm here. Or the (horse) trolley company owned it.

We had a little ice in our driveway this morning as I had the faucets dripping all last night. :)
