Before and After - Frozen Drop

This is my SOOC shot on Monday.

And this is my edited version.

I cropped it a little, ran Pioneer Woman's Sharpen and Define action x 2, played with the highlights and contrast, and then ran it through Topaz Adjust and to lower the noise.   I was still not happy so I added a layer and chose Pin Light.  I really have no clue what I am doing with layers yet!

Be sure to visit Ashley for more great editing tips and tutorials.  She really rocks!

Happy Thursday everyone!

xoxo,
SouthernSass

  8. I love how your edit is much more defined. Keep playing with your layers and layer masks...I think practice always helps but you're definitely getting the hang of it!

  16. Oh my, how cool is THAT! =)

I added one of my Barn Charm badges near the bottom of my blog, one for Barn Charm & one I made a while back for my blog. Hope that helps - I'll probably alternate them once in a while, too.

Thanks so much for joining in on Barn Charm when you can, I think some may be losing interest, entries are really down! =(
But I'm going to keep posting every week, I really l♥ve barns!

  18. You did a great job on this!

And you know the best way to learn is just to try something, and if you don't like it -- UNDO works perfect! lol! :)

  19. Gorgeous refraction! I have yet to be able to capture a water drop as you have done.

  20. Great job! Love it!

And maybe it is just my bizarre personality or the fact that I am completely sleep-deprived this week, but if you look closely at the drop in the edit, you can make out a person ... an alien perhaps. Or Yoda from Star Wars. :)

  22. Incrediable detail in the ice! Love the background...great edit!

  23. I like both; they have different personalities. Cool that you can have two photos of the same thing, and be so different. You were able to create much more of a crystalline texture when you played with filters and plugins.

  24. Well, it does look more frozen in the finished shot.
