Bird on a Wire

I really need a larger zoom lens, but this shot will have to do.   This pretty little bird was hanging out in the middle of a field on Sunday.   It was a beautiful blue-sky day without a cloud in sight and the temps were in the low 60s.

He/she seemed to be looking out over the field searching for something to eat.  Suprisingly, the forecast is for snow late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning.   1 inch of snow is nothing to my other blogging friends, but it is a big deal here in the South!   However, I really am ready for warmer weather and more sun-filled days.

I hope you are all having a fabulous week!  Be sure to visit here for more great Midweek Blues.

xoxo,
SouthernSass

  3. Beautiful blue sky. For once, its not calling for snow for the next 5 days here in my neck of the woods. I am sooooo over winter...just holding on for spring!!!

  4. I can't imagine having to put up with snow where it's rarely expected! It's bad enough to put up with it here in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest! Cute little bird....beautiful blue sky.

  6. You do good with your bird. I suppose he is thinking, "Where did all the worms and bugs go?"

We had a powder of snow last week. It might hit my blog. The cold came though, without snow. And we will get cold again tomorrow also. Further north might be snow and we COULD get some sleet.

  10. Poor little critters must be having a hard time finding their meals this winter. We are supposed to get more ice this weekend. I would much rather have snow.

  11. Looks like it might be a bluebird to me! :c) I know what you mean about the "s word." I am quite ready for it to be spring and could do without any more white stuff.

  12. Great capture! I couldn't help think of the title of the Goldie Hawn movie "Bird on a Wire", lol, I'm weird that way.

The wonderful cloudless sky made for a perfect backdrop for the little guy.

  20. Yes ~ Get a zoom lens! You will love it.

Actually, this photo brought back a precious memory. You know how birds are often lined up on the wire? A whole group of them? When I was a child, my mother would tell me that it was a birdie wedding, and we would try to figure out who the bird bride and groom were. So sweet ~ I used to do it with my sons when they were little.

  25. I think sometimes it's nice not to use a big telephoto. You get the wildlife in habitat, and it shows more of the life I wish sometimes I could live! Like that gorgeous blue sky... wide open and free!!!

    Stay warm!
