Frosted and Textured Basil...

I took this photo back during our snow/ice event.   My poor basil plant is past dead, but it made for an interesting subject.

I am experimenting with layers and masks.  AUGH....   Ashley has a great tutorial this week and she inspires me to keep trying!    After playing around with the high pass filter and adding Pioneer Woman's define and sharpen action, I decided to add a Kim Klassen texture to finish it off.

Happy Friday and I hope you have an absolutely wonderful weekend!   We are supposed to have temps in the mid 60s and I feel a barn search/road trip coming on....   :)

xoxo,

Interesting shot. It's so artistic, it could be framed.

  7. Poor basil...the road trip sounds like fun. I will be working to clean up windstorm damage to some big Douglas Firs and hemlocks. More firewood I am afraid.

  9. I love the picture. Hope you get to go see some barns. I think the old wood barn are the neatest thing! It is a shame that so many are going to ruin.

  14. Hi Southern Sass, just stopped in from Artic View and appreciated the links in this post. I plan to cheak them and do lots of reading later this weekend (when I'm not at a PC in the community college). I have an older version of PhotoShop and need to educate myself more on layers, masks and similar things. Poor basil looks like it has really been frozen.

  15. That's very arty :) Normally my dead basil plants look like mush so you did well to be able to define the edges like that on it. That texture of Kim's looks really nice with it.

  17. I love basil so much, the poor plants never have more than a few paltry leaves on them. And, I've never been able to over winter one. I haven't tried textures yet. I'm very slow when it comes to the technical stuff. This looks nice though. Good job.

  24. I love all the textures in this shot!

I'm not to the point yet where I'm experimenting with layers, but seeing others out there struggle a little (I'm assuming from your "AUGH....") and yet keep working on it is building up my courage. :D
