Midweek Blues - Blue Tarp

This house is owned by my brother-in-law and is near 100 years old.   It has electricity but no indoor plumbing.   It is rented to a gentleman who lives there by himself.  The main source of heat is the fireplace, but hopefully he has a second heat source as well.

The blue tarp on the porch caught my eye.  It looks like the wood is rotten in spots.  I also love the old bench car seat that serves as a place to sit and watch the world go by.

Be sure to visit The Dusty Cellar for other midweek "blues."

Happy Wednesday!

xoxo,

  3. Fabulous picture with a great personal connection to you. We lived in Alabama for 9 years, and I still miss seeing some of these kinds of places dotting the rural landscape; we never felt quite right photographing them if we didn't know the inhabitants.

  6. I love that! Don't you know there would be some good sleeping with rain hitting that roof.

  7. Love the fact that such a small house has two chimneys...maybe one for heat, the other for cooking?

  16. Love this shot and that tin roof. My grandparents had one and I loved to sleep there when it rained.

  20. I remember when my grandparents got indoor plumbing. I definitely would not want to go back to those days. Your photo certainly shows the character of this place.
