This Old House...

This old farm house belonged to my great-aunt and great-uncle, whose barn I featured on Tuesday. This house is currently being remodeled by its new owners (their granddaughter and husband) and I am so happy I got to take a couple of pics before it is made to look new, but never the same as I will remember it.

There were many great times had in this old house with my cousins, as well as many evenings spent listening to the adults talk while sitting on this porch.  It looks so lonely now.

I added a texture to this one.   What do you think?

Have a great Thursday!

xoxo,

  1. I csn just imagine the happy times in this house years ago. But I bet it will transform into a cute little cottage. I like the texture added. I need to learn how to do that!

  2. I love the old feeling you gave this shot! ...now I want to see the kitchen, bedroom(s), etc! I think it would be really neat to have before and after shots of each room.

  4. When I visit some of the old homes of great aunts I am amazed at how small they are. They never seemed small back then. I'm glad the house will have a new life.

  5. I love old southern houses like this one. It reminds me of my grandmothers house. Fortunately I got to see it before the cousin who bought it, totally renovated it. I hadn't seen it since I was ten, when she died. It still had some of the old doors inside with leather pulls, and plank floors. I stood in the doorway of her kitchen and cried. She would never have liked all the new stuff, but would have preferred her hand pump rather than running water. Before she passed away my father and uncles tried to get her to convert to modern plumbing, at their expense to make it easier on her, but she would have nothing to do with it. She had used the pump for over sixty years and wasn't about to change her ways! :)

  8. What a great old house - I sometimes feel weird about taking photos of other people's homes, but this might push me to do just that. Love it.

  9. It makes me think of my great-grandma's house and all the history there. I love it! And hope you'll be able to share the end results too. :)

  10. Love the house and the textured pic! I would love to find an old one to redo but am sure I would have a hard time removing the memories.

  12. It is such a sweet little house. So many good memories, such great people. I sure do long for the simpler times of my youth.

    Thanks everyone!

  13. I like both photos, but the texture sure gives it a vintage look that is very pretty and appropriate. I've seen a few old houses exactly like this in Ohio, must have been a popular style years ago.

  14. You have quite a proud history and treasured memories. Thanks for sharing!

How wonderful that it will be preserved in this "tear it down and build new" world! Would love to see the after pictures!
